Abstract

Schools are among the most important institutions in which a qualified workforce is cultivated. The ability of schools to provide the highest quality education depends on school administrators’ competencies in managing administrative processes effectively and at an optimal level. A review of the literature indicates that there is no valid and reliable measurement instrument designed to determine the extent to which administrators successfully carry out management processes. Accordingly, the present study aims to develop a scale capable of measuring school administrators’ levels of excellence in leadership with respect to management processes. The study was structured with a quantitative design to develop a scale and was conducted in two stages with 631 participants, who were selected through a simple random sampling method from teachers working in the central district of Manisa and Turgutlu, and who voluntarily participated in the study. In the first stage, a comprehensive literature review was conducted, and a pool of 70 items related to management processes was created. In order to ensure the content and face validity of the scale, the opinions of field experts were consulted, and necessary adjustments were made based on the feedback received to create the draft form of the scale. The initial administration of the scale was carried out with 281 teachers, and an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was conducted to determine the construct validity of the scale. As a result of the analysis, items with low factor loadings and overlapping items were removed, resulting in a scale structure consisting of seven dimensions and 35 items. To determine the internal consistency of the scale, Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were calculated, item-total correlations were examined, and a comparison of the top and bottom 27% groups was conducted. The findings indicated that the scale possesses a high level of internal consistency. The relationships among the subdimensions of the scale were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient, revealing consistent and significant relationships. In the second stage, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted using data obtained from a different sample of 350 teachers, and the seven-dimensional structure was confirmed. It was determined that the developed Scale of Excellence in Leadership in Management Processes is a valid and reliable measurement instrument. Retesting the scale across different educational levels and samples has been recommended to enhance its generalizability.
